About O Quy Ho Pass

Stretching nearly 50 kilometers across the Hoang Lien Son range between Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces, O Quy Ho Pass is the longest and highest mountain pass in Vietnam. Its 2,035-meter summit (Heaven's Gate) offers dramatic cliffside vistas, swirling seas of clouds, and the most spectacular sunset viewpoint in Sapa.

Travel tips

Arrive between 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM for sunset over the Lai Chau valley. Bring a windbreaker as temperatures drop rapidly once the sun dips below the ridge.
