Challenge yourself with the ultimate Sapa mountaineering adventure: a full-day strenuous ascent to the 3,143-meter summit of Mount Fansipan—the 'Roof of Indochina'—via the Tram Ton Pass trail (starting at 1,900m). Climb through ancient primary rainforest, centuries-old rhododendron groves, and windswept dwarf bamboo ridges inside Hoang Lien National Park with a certified mountain guide and Hmong porter.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure
06:00 AM transfer to Tram Ton Ranger Station (1,900m) for permit registration. Begin climbing through dense primary rainforest past the 2,200m camp and along the panoramic ridge to the 2,800m base camp.
Tackle the final steep stone and bamboo sections to reach the 3,143m Roof of Indochina summit around 11:30 AM. Celebrate above the clouds, receive your Finisher Medal, and refuel with lunch.
Descend back down the mountain trail to Tram Ton Pass by ~5:30 PM (or ride the scenic 20-minute cable car down if you selected the Cable Car package), followed by private transfer back to your Sapa hotel.
Yes! You can book our 'Hike Up + Cable Car Down' package ($105) in advance, or decide at the summit before the last cable car departs around 4:30 PM.
This trek requires strong cardiovascular stamina (5–6 hours of continuous uphill climbing). Wear broken-in trail running or hiking shoes with deep lugs, moisture-wicking thermal layers, and a windproof/waterproof shell.
We chose the Hike Up + Cable Car Down option. Climbing through primary cloud forest and dwarf bamboo to touch the 3,143m summit marker above a sea of clouds was epic. Our guide and porter were rock stars.
