About Fansipan Peak

At 3,143 meters above sea level, Fansipan is the highest peak in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Known as "The Roof of Indochina," this majestic summit sits within the Hoang Lien Son mountain range and offers breathtaking cloud-sea views, a monumental high-altitude Buddhist complex, and one of Southeast Asia's most rewarding mountain treks.

Highlights

  • 3,143m summit marker — highest peak in Indochina
  • World-record 3-wire cable car ride over Muong Hoa Valley
  • Great Amitabha Buddha statue & mountaintop pagodas
  • Muong Hoa mountain funicular & summit rail car
  • Full-day strenuous summit trek via Tram Ton Pass

Travel tips

Frequently asked questions

Can I hike to the summit of Fansipan in 1 day?

Yes! Fit trekkers can complete the 1-day strenuous hike starting at Tram Ton Pass (1,900m) to the 3,143m summit in 5–6 hours of climbing, then either hike back down or ride the cable car down in the afternoon.

How long does the Fansipan cable car ride take?

The cable car ride takes 15–20 minutes each way. From the upper cable car station, you can climb ~600 stone steps through the pagoda complex or take the 3-minute summit funicular directly to the 3,143m peak.
